Escape Room FAQ

Here you will find answers to the most frequently asked questions about escape rooms, bookings, age recommendations, group sizes, vouchers, and Final Escape.

Escape Rooms at Final Escape Lübeck

At Final Escape Lübeck, you can expect eight stories right in the heart of the Old Town island. Among other things, in the two-part Magic Academy, you’ll defend your school against dark forces, search for weapons for an old Halfling against a new dragon, investigate mysterious deaths in an abbey, or explore a clinic that should have been abandoned long ago.

You’ll arrive at our branch at Schüsselbuden 30, just a few steps from St. Mary’s Church. The Game Master will explain the story and rules, then your mission begins: 60 minutes in most rooms, 90 minutes each in Magic Academy Part 1 and Part 2. Afterwards, a group photo is available upon request.

Most Lübeck rooms have a 60-minute playtime, while both parts of the Magic Academy are 90 minutes each. Plan for a total of about 90 minutes, and around two hours for the Magic Academy.

Most Lübeck rooms are designed for two to six people. The Magic Academy is played with four to eight people, Bloody Awakening from three. Up to 42 people can play simultaneously with us.

No, in Lübeck, Final Escape has one location: at Schüsselbuden 30, 23552 Lübeck, right in the Old Town. Other locations in Germany include Berlin, Bremen, Erfurt, Flensburg, Kiel, and Rostock, and in Switzerland, Basel and Zurich.

Directions and Surroundings

The nearest central bus stop is Kohlmarkt, where almost all Lübeck city buses stop, and it’s only a 2-3 minute walk from there. From the main train station/central bus station, you can take many lines directly to Kohlmarkt or walk about 15 minutes past the Holstentor. The Schüsselbuden stop will likely not be served until January 2027 due to the Beckergrube construction site.

The closest is St. Marien multi-storey car park (Fünfhausen 3-5), directly at the end of Schüsselbuden and open 24/7. Alternatively, you can park in the Mitte multi-storey car park in Marlesgrube, which is closed on Sundays. There are street parking spaces on Obertrave, which are subject to charges Monday to Saturday from 10 AM to 6 PM.

The Breite Straße is right nearby and is Lübeck’s main shopping street. St. Mary’s Church and the Town Hall are around the corner, and the Holstentor and the European Hansemuseum can be reached in a few minutes. For the evening after the game, the restaurants on the Obertrave are a good option.

Only in Lübeck

We recommend starting with Part 1, as the story builds upon itself: in the first part, you defend the school, and in the second, you return. Both parts last 90 minutes and are designed for four to eight people. If you want to play both parts on the same day, please contact us. Normally, both parts can only be booked on different days.

Booking and Preparation

Yes, we recommend booking online in advance. In the booking calendar, you can immediately see which rooms are available. Especially on weekends, during school holidays in Schleswig-Holstein, and during Advent, appointments are quickly taken.

Comfortable clothing and sturdy shoes are ideal. In some Lübeck rooms, you may need to crawl or climb in places, so clothing that allows freedom of movement and can get dirty is the best choice.

Difficulty and Player Experience

Yes, all rooms in Lübeck can be played without prior experience. More important than prior knowledge are curiosity, close observation, and good team communication.

For a first visit, we recommend The Halfling’s Adventures or The Secret of the Monks. If you want a big experience right away and are at least four people, start with The Magic Academy Part 1. If you are unsure, we will be happy to advise you at 0451 120 152 40 or by email at luebeck@final-escape.de.

There is no fixed scale. Good starting points are The Halfling’s Adventures and The Secret of the Monks. The Magic Academy challenges your endurance with 90 minutes of playtime, and Bloody Awakening tests your nerves.

Yes, the Game Master follows your game via video and gives you hints if you are stuck for a while. The tips fit the story so that the atmosphere is maintained.

Then the game ends normally, even if the mission has not yet been solved. The Game Master will then show you how the story ends and how the remaining puzzles can be solved.

No, special athleticism is not required. However, in some Lübeck rooms, you may need to crawl or climb in places. If this is difficult for someone, please let us know in advance, and we will recommend a suitable room.

Safety and Well-being

The doors of our Lübeck rooms are locked with electromagnets, but next to each door there is an emergency button that you can use to open them at any time. In case of a power outage, the doors automatically unlock. If the button is pressed, the game ends for everyone. If only one person wants to leave briefly, let the Game Master know, and the rest will continue playing.

Every game in Lübeck is supervised by a Game Master who monitors your room via video throughout and can intervene at any time.

That depends on the room. Bloody Awakening in the abandoned clinic relies on goosebumps and jump scares. The Magic Academy, The Halfling’s Adventures, and Robot Paranoia, on the other hand, stand for fantasy and adventure, and The Secret of the Monks for crime suspense.

That depends on the room, as in some Lübeck rooms, climbing or crawling is required, and some contain startling effects. Please contact us before booking, and we will recommend a suitable room. For health-related questions, please consult a doctor before participating.

No, our Lübeck location and the Escape Rooms are unfortunately not barrier-free, and in some rooms, climbing or crawling is required. Please contact us with specific needs before booking, and we will jointly check what is possible.
